World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft (WOW) is a massively multiplayer role-playing/adventure
game set in the Warcraft universe. Like EverQuest, WOW will make
it possible for thousands of online players to interact with one
another in a rich virtual world. The game will place a heavy emphasis
on combat along with skill development and player teamwork.
WOW is set a short time after the events depicted in Warcraft III:
Reign of Chaos, and the world of Azeroth has plunged into disarray.
Obviously, Blizzard have already racked up a lot of experience in
the realm of online gaming, but it will be interesting to see how
they address the inevitable issues related to player killing.
Blizzard are putting a lot of work into expanding the scope and
scale of the Warcraft universe in an effort to ensure you won't
get bored. While the game will have enough depth to satisfy hardcore
players, it will also be possible just to log on for a quick bout
of combat. To facilitate this, you will start the game with a fairly
powerful character.
WOW has already been in development now for a number of years and
sports a powerful 3D graphics engine. The end result is extremely
impressive, resembling a sort of cross between EverQuest and Warcraft
III.
Barring any major misfortunes, World of Warcraft should be out
sometime later this year.
